Examples of Charities we support:
St. Vincent de Paul Society
Our mission is to “serve those in need, making no distinctions of creed, ethnic or social background, health, gender or political opinions”.
We store, pack up and deliver food every 30 days to 50 families in NW Calgary. this past Christmas almost 100 hampers were delivered. We support those in need with overdue bills, rent, moving and/or medical expenses.
We keep our overhead to less than 10% of funds raised. St. Peter’s K of C provides the SSVP with financial assistance and volunteer hours for delivering food hampers.
Elizabeth House
Provides pregnant and parenting mothers faced with crisis to raise their child in a safe, supportive home environment. Women can stay while they are pregnant and up until their child’s 2nd birthday. Each resident is provided with her own furnished bedroom, access to shared amenities, weekly groceries & staff support.
EH is a non-denominational program, funded entirely by charitable donations including funds from the K of C. The K of C volunteers added new grass, new patio, new BBQ and new lawn furniture to the EH backyard.
St. Peter’s Youth
Knights of Columbus supports many youth related programs at St. Peter’s.
Youth programs supported include Two(2) Scholarships for post-secondary education, Boxes of Coats for kid that are distributed each fall, and any Youth programs that are undertaken that promote community engagement.
St. Peter’s Facilities Improvement Project
The Knights of Columbus have actively supported the improvement of St. Peter’s facilities, including:
- Expanded conference and meeting rooms
- Parish Hall upgrades for breakfasts and dinner events
- Technology upgrades to support live streaming and video libraries
- Expanding parking and lighting
